Medical Receptionists Are Responsible For Keeping Accurate Records

January 18 2019 , Written by UPbook Published on #medical receptionist skills, #Receptionist

One of the important responsibilities of a medical receptionist is filing important information and records of the patients as well as of the practice. The need for a well-organized and efficient filing system in the medical record section of the clinic cannot be overemphasized. Proper filing and organization methods are just one of the medical receptionist skills that should receive proper attention during training.

When a patient arrives, the medical receptionist helps the patient fill up some forms and make sure that all information is up-to-date. Information that is inaccurate and/or outdated can be a cause of delay when processing insurance reimbursements. The receptionist should also make sure that the demographic information of the patients should be current, especially if the patient has not been to the clinic for a considerable length of time.

It is also the job of a medical receptionist to prepare the charts of individual patients before the clinic opens. The charts should be organized based on the patient appointments.
