Just like any type of receptionist, veterinary receptionists are considered front liners of the veterinary practice. As such, they are the first ones responsible for creating the first impression on their clients and the general public. Always remember that first impressions are almost always lasting, and you will never get a second chance to correct them or change the person’s opinion of you or the practice. As the first point of interaction, either by phone or face-to-face, veterinary receptionists are expected to deliver quality customer service at all times. On a typical day at the vet clinic, the tasks of a receptionist will include greeting and interacting with pet owners, the filing of patient forms and keeping them updated, and keeping the waiting room clean and comfortable. Most veterinary receptionists are also given administrative and clerical responsibilities, depending on the size of the practice and how busy it is.
